My family and I had a week in a hotel by the beach, while having a family get together.
We were having a lovely time the first couple of days and then an immense storm suddenly blew through.
The power went out for a certain amount of time, however, then the emergency lighting actually came on. We got an iphone call telling us that they didn’t expect the lights to be out for all that long, however the elevators weren’t even working. We could take a stroll downstairs, however the people I was with and I would have to walk back up the stairs after we were done eating. We were on the thirtieth floor. My fiance has some horrible back complications and he needs to use a cane all the time. I was just thankful the people I was with and I had a fantastic breakfast, because it would entirely hold us over until the power was able to come back on. What the people I was with and I didn’t plan on was that separate from the power, the emergency lighting didn’t allow for the air conditioning machine to operate. It wasn’t just us that had the door completely open, however half of the other room doors were open also. Everyone on this floor didn’t want to head downstairs because eventually we would have to come back upstairs all over again. We found out it was cooler in the hallway where there weren’t any windows, so a lot of people were easily hanging out there. We were talking about the non-working A/C and how incredibly hungry the people I was with and I were all becoming. We all made the choice to go downstairs. We went into the stairwell and took a very long walk downstairs so the people I was with and I could get some food. There were a good amount of us laughing and giggling in the dull light, and the people I was with and I reached the first floor after a long while. We easily began to laugh when the power was restored and the air conditioning poured into the stairwell to cool us off.
