A survival situation turns romantic

My good friend Alexis was telling me that she would love to go rent a cabin in the woods.

It was the midst of the winter season so I was a little bit hesitant, but she said that it would be exciting.

So we went for the rental and we both put in half the money for the cabin rental. I had to admit, the cabin had some character to it and I thought the heating system was working pretty good for such an old place. We were having a great time until the heating system quit working. There was a fireplace, but there was no firewood! There was an old wooden picnic table outside however and we decided to split it up into pieces with the axe that was outside so that we would have some firewood and not freeze to death. There were no trees that we could easily just cut down, so that seemed to be our only option. This was a matter of survival because we were out there with no help or civilization for miles. When we brought in some of the wood that was ready for the fireplace, I realized that I didn’t have a lighter or matches. Thankfully, Alexis had it covered because she had a lighter and a box of matches just in case we might need it. I really appreciated the fact that she came prepared, she always seemed to be that way. While we were getting the fire in the fireplace started, she suggested that we huddle up together for body heat. It was really nice feeling her warm body against mine and I couldn’t help but to kiss her. She didn’t turn away and we became more than friends after that experience all thanks to the failed heating system.
