Dealing with family emergencies can be tough as an HVAC technician

The other afternoon while I was laboring away at work, I ended up getting a message that really caught me totally off guard and nearly sent myself and others into full on panic mode.

And at the time I was right in the middle of repairing a seasoned and broken down air conditioning system device for a client, when something out of the ordinary happened and my partner called me in a distressed manner.

And she informed me that she had disfigured her foot while cleaning up around the home and needed help. After getting off of the call I was stuck feeling as if I was in a legitimately strenuous position where it seemed almost as if I were to abandon my client with a half fixed air conditioning system device I would end up having to face steep penalties or even risk being fired. Likewise, not heading back to our cabin to help my partner also didn’t sit well with me. I was however fortunate that the kind gentleman who I was working for was able to sense and observe the elevation of my stress and told me right away that I should go and help my partner… When it comes to clients, especially newer people, you can never be sure what to expect in this line of work. However, thankfully in this instance I lucked out with a kind and understanding client. With her blessing I made a mad dash back to my home in order to take care of my partner who turned out to be just great after some medical attention. Then later on I did my due diligence and made sure to finish the task back at that man’s house, but life in the heating and A/C field would be a dream if all of our clients were all like him!
