Jenni bought her forever home at 35 years.
She was well-known for constantly telling the rest of us that we were chained in our marriages when she was free as a bird.
I always said her job kept her too busy and traveling to meet anyone. All that changed during the lockdown period. Jenni had to stay home, and things had to run. That’s when she discovered how the heating industry works and what home services are when her furnace suddenly stopped working. I hosted her for a week as she postponed the ultimate visit to the heating dealer business in town. The movement was limited, and since she had never been to the heating device and service shop, she thought it best to spend time checking them out. Most of the HVAC tech team worked from home and only showed up when needed. It was her lucky day because we found Mr. Kind, as we nicknamed him, an HVAC serviceman, on duty at the heating technology business that day. Jenni had no idea how to explain her heating repair needs since she had never done any heating maintenance in the house since she bought it. She is not shy, but for some reason, she begged me with her eyes to explain to the technician the type of help she needed. The tech asked what type of thermostat she had and whether she had turned it on. She had a digital thermostat, and I think the only thing she knew how to operate. Anyway, the tech checked her ductwork and did some duct sealing, which marked the beginning of their friendship. They got married this January, and Jenni is now telling me I need to have a heat pump because it’s the future.
