How does a ductless heat pump work?

A ductless heat pump does not depend on ducts to heat your home.

It also can cool your home by reversing refrigerants in the system.

Essentially, this system works by absorbing heat from one location of your building and transferring it to another location. It has indoor and outdoor units. Depending on your HVAC needs, you can install a multi-zone or a single zone ductless heat pump. Ideally, use single zone heat pump systems in a smaller home while installing the multi-zone unit in a large building. The ductless system spreads heat in your room through evaporation and condensation cycles through an HVAC compressor pump. The system has two heat exchanger coils. One of these coils evaporates the refrigerant while the other condenses it. The condenser coils release heat from the refrigerant to warm indoor space, while the evaporator coil absorbs heat from an area to be transferred to a cooler room within the building. Like most HVAC systems, the ductless HVAC unit relies on a thermostat to maintain your desired indoor temperature. Apart from installing it as a main HVAC system in your home, you can use the ductless heat pump in retrofitting buildings that do not have ductworks. They are also energy efficient, meaning you will not have to spend a lot of money on your heating bills. If you like compact HVAC units, a ductless heat pump is ideal for you. They are also easy to install in your home or commercial building. However, you should consult an HVAC contractor before installing a ductless heat pump in your building.
