Targeting local businesses to secure weekly gigs

My aim is to reduce my working time by 40% within this month.

That’s why I use a timer while I work to track my productivity and monitor my working speed.

The sooner I get my work done, the sooner I can go and play music with my buddy. My buddy got the flu two weeks ago, I injured my foot last week, and this week has been raining, so between one thing or another, we haven’t been able to play. We are handing out our business cards to the local businesses around town to get some gigs. During the weeks we have not been playing, we’ve been working on our songs and promotional strategies, and now we strongly believe that we are ready to make it. We’ve already gotten the thumbs up from the new contractor in town; they heard us paying one day, and said that they might hire us to do some weekly shows at their climate controlled bars. We also have plans to go traveling during the summer with a van, and go to different cities to try our music. In the meantime, we will continue working remotely for the HVAC company and not have to worry too much about making money. At the end of the day, we prefer to enjoy playing music rather than making a lot of money out of it, but if we can make some money, then that’s great. My gas furnace has recently broken down, so some extra cash will come in handy. Our plan for the winter is to play music in ski lodges and stay for free at my girlfriend’s father’s cabin in the mountains with a cozy fireplace.
