After having my heat pump installation, I was able to learn a few tips over the years.
The HVAC professionals who came out to service my heat pump were so busy all the time, they didn’t mind telling me some things I could do on my own to resolve issues with my heat pump.
I’m talking about maintenance tips that I could mostly do on my own. They told me if I have issues with the heat pump not turning on, I should first check any breakers or fuses. They also advised that I check for the reset switch on the outdoor HVAC unit and that could be the reason for the HVAC not engaging. If nothing like that worked to solve the issue, then I could call the professionals to solve the problem. If the heat pump short cycles, then it is crucial to check the air filter and the blower motor. You also need to clear any debris from the outdoor unit, as this is a common issue for short cycling with the heat pump. If there is uneven heating and cooling in the household, the forced air distribution would have to be balanced and that typically requires an HVAC professional. I really enjoy my heat pump for the most part, but of course it’s important to have regular maintenance on it before the peak seasons. As long as I get my HVAC system serviced, it usually runs like a champ with very few issues. If I ever skip some maintenance, I’ll typically end up paying for it sometime down the road.
