There were some problems going on with the air duct of my central heating & air conditioner unit.

So I called the local heat & A/C company to send out a certified heating & cooling specialist to investigate the problem.

It seemed that my air duct was getting some pretty exhausting air quality going every single last time my central heating & air conditioner unit would flip on. It turned out that the air duct was real dirty from things getting into it from outside. So in addition to getting a fantastic air duct cleaning done they said that I also needed to have the air duct sealed. By having the air duct of my central heating & air conditioner unit sealed it would stop all that junk from coming in from outside & make things much better again. So I paid for the additional air duct sealing. It turned out real well because I have not had any additional problems since with the air duct of my central heating & air conditioner or the air flow nor air quality. If I had known about this sooner I would have had the air duct of my central heating & air conditioner unit sealed on my own ages ago. But I just had found out from the local heating & air conditioning company’s most certified heating & cooling specialist. I am excited I knew & now that I have my air duct sealed all is fantastic & well & I should not have to get the air duct of my central heating & air conditioner unit cleaned for a long time now.

My sister and I live about five houses from one another.

And it’s been so amazing.

She came to this area to look for a house when she got tired of the city life. We are in a rural area, but it’s not too remote. So, you can still get to the city in 45 minutes or so. My sister wanted to buy a house, and for sure, I was there to help her with the search. I think my kids were more happy to have her close. I am a single mom of 4, and they love their aunt because well, she spoils them rotten. My sister works from home so it’s been so amazing having her around to help babysit. I try not to take advantage of her, but I know she doesn’t mind at all. At times she even comes, picks the kids, and I will learn about that later. Anyway, on this one day, she dropped by to take them for ice cream and found me dealing with a HVAC issue. The air conditioner was making an odd noise that was distressing since it was summer. No one wanted to be in a house without air conditioning when it was 95F outside. My sister told me to just call the HVAC business and have them come to inspect the faulty cooling unit. I know one HVAC business that does same-day repairs, so I gave them a call. As I was waiting for the HVAC technician to arrive, my sister and my kids left to go enjoy ice cream. I was promised some, but I had to stay back to get the odd air conditioner noise sorted out.

My neighbor is an amazing old man, and my partner loves him so much.

Every morning when the weather is perfect, they meet at our back patio and enjoy a cup of coffee. During winter, my partner either goes to his house, or invites him over. My partner has never known his dad, and he says God has given him another chance to know the love of a father. Our neighbor also feels the same because his son passed away many years ago. I love their bond, and I also feel they are wonderful for one another. Every summer, my partner is always at his house fixing things, mowing the grass, and so much more. Then, despite his constant refusal, a check comes in the mail for the kids college fund. Anyway, this past spring, my partner went about working at the house, and he noticed there was an issue with the HVAC cooling. It was an oddly hot spring day, so my neighbor turned on the HVAC cooling to keep the house cool. The cooling system worked for an hour then it failed. They contacted an HVAC professional who came by and did repairs. Then, he came back another time and another time. By the fourth time, he told my neighbor there’s no point in paying for HVAC cooling repair. The unit was faulty, and the best option was a replacement. They went over the options for a modern HVAC cooling system, and it was installed the next day. Now, he enjoys amazing cooling, and is having the best summer.

Tim was leaving for work when he saw Josh sitting in his car. He looked a bit distressed and Tim went by to say hello. Josh was a little startled then he rolled down the window to greet Tim. After the greetings and inquiring how each was doing, Tim asked Josh why he looked so worried. This wasn’t like him since he is always a lively and jovial person. Well, Josh opened up to his friend and explained he was having a bit of money trouble. He’d had to spend a fortune to have a new roof installed at his home the previous spring. That meant dipping into savings to get the job done, and also get the best quality roofing. Now, Josh was worried he’d have to find money quickly because his AC compressor had died. He woke up covered in sweat, and went to check on the cooling system. That’s when he realized he would need to replace the failed cooling system. Tim, a HVAC expert, was sympathetic with the issue. Summer in the area can mean temperatures above 100F. So, if you don’t have a working AC compressor, you are in for a disastrous season. Still, Tim wanted to help and began giving Josh some options to cool his home. He said the amount he could spare for this, and Tim advised Josh to go for a ductless AC unit. It was easy to install, not too costly, and would serve him all summer. That way, he’d have ample time to save for a new AC compressor come next summer.

So, imagine being the only one in your family to choose a trade over a degree.

Now, before you come for me, it’s better I tell my story.

I have five siblings in my home. I am the last born, and school was never my thing. Instead, I’d look forward to summer when I’d spend time with my grandpa on his farm working on tractors and machines. My brothers and sisters are good when it comes to books. But, for me, it’s always been a struggle. I prefer to do things rather than read about them. So, I sat my parents down during my senior year and we spoke about the next step. I informed them I wanted to go to a local college, and train to become a heating and AC specialist. My grandpa had been a heating expert many years ago, so this was nothing new to the family. Mom and dad knew my mind was made up, and I am not a thriving heating and AC specialist. I think studying what I like in college helped me so much since it wasn’t so bad. We’d do more practical than theory work, and the teachers understood I liked working on the heating and cooling units. Well, I am not not only thriving in my HVAC career, but I am the designated family HVAC specialist. Hehehe. They do pay me, but it’s always funny when I am working on the HVAC systems in their homes. I always try to educate them about the best way to take care of the heating and cooling systems. For example, I told my brother the other day it’s important to get heat pump maintenance twice a year.

There is no question that I’m all about whatever is good for home and family.

But I can tend to be a bit hit and miss at times when it comes to both.

For sure, my family is the main motivation and focus for my life. There are times when I’m in the shower dreading another day inside the commercial HVAC of the office. But I remember that while I enjoy my job, it can be difficult. And that’s just part of the deal. My career pays for a big chunk of our lifestyle and I’m glad to be able to provide. And that’s what gets me off to work some mornings. Yet, coming home to family at the end of the day is something I’m trying to get better about. Too often, I stay late inside that commercial HVAC of the office instead of coming home to the central air conditioning of the office. And frankly, that needs to change. It’s time for me to spend more time focusing on my relationships and family than whatever drama is happening at work. And I’m doing better about getting into the heating and cooling of my house by dinner time. It’s just logical that my wife and kids need the attention that they deserve. Just helping out with dinner and getting the kids to bed is rewarding and special. It’s all about paying attention. The more time I spent at home, the more I realized that I was not caring for some of the essential components of my house. Again, paying attention to even the heating and cooling equipment is something that I have to get better at. It’s just logical that the more HVAC maintenance the HVAC equipment gets, the better off it is as well.

Closing in on forty and still living in an apartment with ancient HVAC equipment was not where I thought I’d be.

• The plans I had for my life certainly didn’t include sweltering Summers with marginal air conditioning.

Not to mention just living my life sharing walls with folks who aren’t family. Apartment life was all I could afford though. It’s not like I don’t have a job. I mean, I spent four long years in a dorm room with intense radiant heating in order to do what I do. It’s just that my vocation doesn’t really pay all that much. Apartment living was the only way I could cut costs so I could save for a downpayment. The closer I thought I was getting to homeownership, the further I had to go. Enough was enough and I went another direction. I was accustomed to living in close quarters so I figured why not go all in on that approach with a tiny home. Not only was I able to be a homeowner but I was able to put that little house right on some awesome property. I have incredible views, a wrap around deck and room for a garden. It’s just the perfect set up for me really. And I was able to do it all with the money I had saved for a traditional downpayment on like a three bedroom house. The heating and cooling in my home is outstanding. There isn’t any more ancient central air conditioning to deal with. I get my quality heating and air from a ductless heat pump hung high on the wall. Air conditioning is the main focus of HVAC in this part of the country. And now, I finally have some really great cooling comfort.

I think I actually sort of got under my dad’s skin like a year ago.

It was between my s 2nd and 3rd year at university.

I was home for the Summer and I started riding my old man about how out of shape and actually fat he was getting. It was sort of surprising to move back into the central air conditioning of the family home and find my dad just letting himself go. That just didn’t seem to make any sense. This was the same guy who was always dragging me out of the air conditioning to do stuff like throw frisbee. And dad was always riding his bike around as well. He’d even ride to work with a backpack and then change inside the zone controlled HVAC of his office. So I was stunned to see him doing nothing but laying around in the air conditioning and I said something. Actually, I really was trying to get him off his butt. It got to him enough that he took the bait and went to the gym with me all last Summer. Now, I’m back again for what might be my final Summer in the house. And wow, my old man is full on committed to his health now. He hated the commercial HVAC of the gym so he put a gym in the basement that even has a ductless heat pump for air conditioning. Before I even unloaded my car, dad was dragging me downstairs to show off his new home gym. And it’s pretty great for sure. Yet, I don’t know if dad is more impressed with the exercise equipment or the new ductless heat pump.

Oh how I hate having my mother in law and sister in law in the same room.

Not only is there some sort of ancient beef between the two of them, they tend to team up on others with their default hostility.

So, last Thanksgiving was a tense time inside the central air conditioning of my home. It was my first time hosting the holiday. The fact that we live way down south and they live way up north has enabled me to get around hosting holidays. But now, it was time for them to be in our home for like five days. So it was battle stations for me and my hubby. We live simply and comfortably. Our home is smaller than most but it’s just the two of us. However, we have the latest in residential HVAC and HVAC technology. When we bought this house, that was the first thing that we chose to replace. And we went deep when it comes to getting the sort of quality heating and air that we wanted. But my hubby’s family is more high end and big money. They tend to have this sort of built in condescension towards us because we choose to focus on joy and not money. And so that meant that we had to put on our best face. That meant getting the house in tip top shape as well. To that end, I even called the HVAC company to come do the ductwork cleaning and ductwork resealing. While all the HVAC equipment was new, I had no idea if the ductwork cleaning had ever been done. Well, our house was perfect and we were authentically us. It went about as well as expected but at least the indoor air quality was excellent.

Well, it is almost time to hit the road and take a break from the screen.

My eyes start to feel bugeyed after looking at the screen for too much time.

Today is no exception and I am going to take a little break after I finish this article and go look out at the sea for a bit to relax my eyes. I want to see how many people are out there today because yesterday was slammed when I went out first thing in the morning. It was a holiday yesterday come to find out, and the local contractor told me today is going to be dead and many local businesses won’t even be open today because it will be too slow. It will be a slow day for me except for training a couple people in yoga, a workout session, and a volleyball training session. So yeah, I don’t just do HVAC repairs but I also wear several other hats, and also earn a little money playing music in air conditioned clubs around town. It isn’t a lot of money, but playing music in the streets earns me enough to pay for all of my food each month. The HVAC supplier joins us sometimes and plays the sax, but he lets us keep the tips because he makes loads from running the heating and cooling corp each week. He just wants to come out and play for fun and maybe get in some of our new songs that we record and put online. Anyway, I’m off for some natural climate control on my bike.
